Email Services
Technology Services provides email accounts to all Tulane faculty, staff, and students. We run a Microsoft Exchange 2003 server. It is accessible via the Web at https://owa.tulane.edu
Members of the Tulane community can also configure one of our supported clients, Outlook, Entourage, or Ximian Evolution. More information on configuring these clients is available in the email folder of the HelpU 24.7 site.
Email accounts
Email accounts are automatically generated for incoming students and new faculty and staff through automated interfaces between the email server, the Student Information System, and the Payroll system. Account letters for incoming freshmen are mailed to their homes in late spring, generally in early May. Department heads who would like to request an account for a faculty or staff member be created before it is done automatically can do so by sending an email to accounts@tulane.edu.
Email lists
Technology Services also runs a listserv server which hosts email lists for faculty, staff, departments, and student organizations. To apply for a listserv list, fill out our listserv online application form. Distribution lists are also available through Tulane’s Exchange server. For information about setting up a distribution list, please contact an agent at HelpU 24.7.
Exchange resources
Faculty and staff may request a resource in Exchange (for example, a conference room) by contacting HelpU 24.7. The request must include the following information about the resource:
- The campus
- The building
- The department
- The room (if it is a conference room)
- The name and email address of the resource administrator
- Whether the resource automatically accepts meeting proposals or not
The HelpU 24.7 agent will put in a ticket to a systems administrator, who will create the resource.
